All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement presented at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Boston, you must be at least 21 years old; note that certain vehicle types may have different age requirements and potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and a current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other conditions detailed in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by phone, or at our Boston office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in US dollars and include applicable taxes. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Boston, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed to document the state of the car. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please contact us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges that occur during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility

Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain responsible for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses in Boston
- Using the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or any other risky maneuvers is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized individuals to drive is not permitted. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must only be used for its intended purpose. Exceeding passenger capacity or weight restrictions is prohibited. Driving beyond the designated geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by Massachusetts law, Car Hire Boston is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Boston Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Massachusetts law. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Massachusetts courts.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
